Small Landscape II – Original Oil Painting
Dimensions: 20 cm x 20 cm x 3,5 cm
Medium: Oil

Serving as a captivating counterpoint to “Small Landscape I,” it further explores the dramatic beauty of nature’s contrasts. This original oil painting continues Wolff’s expressive style, inviting the viewer into a scene where vibrant life meets a brooding sky.
While “Small Landscape 1” featured bright yellow blossoms, “Small Landscape II” introduces a striking field of intense golden-yellow, textured with bold strokes of impasto that almost seem to glow. This sun-drenched foreground is punctuated by elegant stalks of vibrant purple flowers, standing tall and resolute against the powerful forces at play above. The specific hue of these blossoms adds a new depth of colour and emotion to the narrative established in its predecessor.
Above this vivid display, the sky continues its dramatic presence. A tempestuous expanse of dark greys and deep blues looms, punctuated by swirling, sculptural clouds of bright white and lighter grey. The artist’s hand is evident in the dynamic movement of these clouds, suggesting a landscape caught between calm and storm.
“Small Landscape II” builds upon the themes of resilience and natural grandeur seen in “Small Landscape !,” offering a fresh perspective on the same powerful narrative. It’s a testament to the enduring beauty of wildflowers against a formidable sky, and a compelling piece for any admirer of evocative landscapes.

Cornelie Wolff Approaching Art from a Different Angle
This Johannesburg-based artist started as a pharmacist. After completing her Honours Degree in Psychology, she joined Helios to further her skills in Art Therapy. During this time, she fell in love with art, the process and the emotional power it yields.
While raising her family, which consisted of three young children, she took part-time classes with Rika de Klerk and Willie Jacobs. She also attended workshops led by Koos Bronkhorst, Niel Moss, Willie Jacobs, Rentia Coetzee, Ruth Walters, Elize Bezuidenhout, Douw van Heerden, Charla Maarschalk, and Jennifer McChristian.
Today, she practices what she preaches by creating her work under the motto: “With every painting I complete, I grow as a person and an artist.”
My art is created from a place of wonder – it is my dream for every human to never completely lose the child inside them, because it is our ability to see wonder and magic in things. I use bold brushstrokes, contrast and an impressionistic approach to entice the viewer to create their own interpretation of the subject and become part of my world.
